setup and leakdown results, perfect , still smoke >>
these numbers seem to good.
what do you guys think
------
setup
-------
sohc, je 8.5.1, eagle rods, micropollished crank, stock head gasket, port pollish, 3 angle valve job, all new seals in the head and block.
motor has ~4000 on it since rebuild
-------------------
compression test
-------------------
1- 200 , 2- 200, 3- 205, 4- 205
----------------
leakdown test
----------------
1- 1% , 2- 1.5% , 3- 1.5% , 4-1.5%
these test were done multiple times with all about the same results.
now here is the thing, motor smokes a little still, but only when i have the exhaust hooked up. if i run open downpipe, no smoke at all. i have 3an in with a atp .060 inlet restricter, 10 an return line.
turbo is a garret t3/4 50 trim.
any ideas.

what about condensation in the exhaust. would that cause this. i thought that would go away after a while though.

the smoke looks white.
turbo has maybe couple hundred miles on it.
return line looks good to me.

hey bro
if is blue smoke as in oil it can be ur exhaust valve seals, even tho u got great leakdown, the seals can drip into the exhaust stream, causing the smoke, , or maybe u stil got some crap left over on ur exhaust system after the downpipe that is still burning off from the old turbo... or old engine
btw del slowest hasnt yet turned the boost up. im trying to convince him to pump it up to 7 psi

well it's gotta be something in the exhaust cause it does not smoke when it's not hooked up. either that or it's creating some sort of backpressure that is causing the turbo seals to leak, it's a 3inch all the way back though. no cat. so i dont see any restriction there.
man tell that dude to turn it up. 7psi is fine on that motor. what is he using for fuel management . vafc, or..

Re: (Bryson)
collant or water is white. could it just be lots of condensation in the exhaust.
agian it does not smoke when i run open downpipe.
i will take some pics of the return line later tonight or tomorrow and post up.

Well the condesation will only form when your driving in a cold climate. It will only take a few minutes for the condensation to go away.
If your driving in a warm area, and you have the smoke, its definetly not condensation.

Well...
The exhaust will keep the gases collected from the engine until it reaches the back of the car. The concentration of the "smoke" will be higher right off the back end of the car, compared to coming straight out the DP. The gases coming out of the DP will have time to disperse and in a sense be invisible by the time they reach the back end of the car. You should still be getting the smoke...but your just not seeing it.

Re: (Bryson)
never thought of it that way.
good explanation.
i guess it's gotta be the turbo or the return line then .
let me get some pics of that return line for guys to check out..
