searched: h22 NITROUS question
hey guys, my friend is giving me a great deal on a NOS nitrous system and i have a few questions. the kit is a wet kit and i was wondering what all i would need to safely run a 100 shot on my h22. i've ran a compression check and leak down test and everything came up good. since NOS kits are rated to the flywheel it would be like running a 85 or 90 shot. my motor is pretty much stock. i have aem cai, clutchmaster stage 3 clutch, a walboro fuel pump, aem fpr, aem fuel rail, NGK bkr7e plugs, and a few other minor things. would it be ok to spray every once in awhile? maybe like 2 or three times a weekend or something like that? im not in a huge hurry to spray, id rather be safe than sorry i just wanted to know what you guys think. thanks

Im not sure about a 100shot
I have the same setup as you do and I run a Zex kit w/ 55shot. I run 3 step colder plugs and take out 2 degrees of timing when I spray and it makes a good diference. I have been thinking about a 65shot, but I just wouldn't spray a 100shot, unless you want to blow your motor up.

Re: searched: h22 NITROUS question (H22aDc2)
a 100 shot will not blow up a h22. Just retard the timing about 4 degrees and use everythign you have listed, it'll be fine.
Another idea would be to get a MSD with boost retard option, that way you can retard the timing from inside the cabin when you want to spray.
a 100 shot hits H A R D on this motor, enjoy it

Re: searched: h22 NITROUS question (B16B)
i've talked to a lot of people and have read a lot of topics and it seems the majority of people say its safe. i plan on getting the msd but wont be able to get it for another month or so. im going to the dyno in a week or so and tune it. i have the msd rpm window switch ordered as well as some gauges to monitor things. is there anything else that i have left out that you would do or any helpful ideas? thanks

Re: searched: h22 NITROUS question (ooitzdavidoo)
the nitrous rule of thumb is that you can safely spray half your Hp all day and night without problwms..... so for an h22 which make 200 hp, a 100 shot will be fine

Good god man.....this is one of the worst cases of "safety overkill" I have ever seen! Do you also drive your car wearing steel belted underwear, bullet proof vest, full football gear, a 5 point harness plus your seatbelt too when you drive?
You're running a 55 shot, not a 155 shot and you're not doing your car any favors, performance wise, on or off the bottle. Run your stock heat range plugs if you're only going to use a 55-65 hp shot with a max 2 degree retard. You should be running at least a 75hp shot, keep your 2 degree retard and run 1 step colder plugs and you'll still be super safe and be able to go a lot faster. Unless your engine is a pile of junk or you do exceedingly stupid things while running nitrous you don't have a hope in hell of blowing your engine up.

i am looking to dip into the lo-11's maybe even 10's ....this is a street car by the way.96 ek hatch? but car is not driven everyday, not that it makes a difference.

sure no problem? truthfully i was wanting to put the 2.6L into a eg hatch ,but i sold the bottom end and chassis 1 week before dyno time.i have a 96 ek hatch now, that if i do not fined some one to trade w/ "shells"...then it will be going in the ek.i have decided to paint what ever i get 05 bmw gray.my computer crashed "hard drive" but i can send pics of a few things.

I am planning on running a wet 100 shot, but I have 1 question first. Is there a way to retard my timing on demand on my H22a? The plan is to set up a switch that retards the timing only when Nitrous is sprayed. Will Hondata do this, or the MSD system mentioned earlier? I know nothing about Nitrous, so I'd rather ask a "stupid" question than blow up my ****.

Re: (AzCivic1.6)
you can also use a multi-step retard ,or buy a in-**** pit adj. retard ,so that when your riding around set it ,then when you see some one that wants a little action, just turn the **** back and spray the hell out of it.when your done turn it back to where you had it.

Yep the Hondata will also retard the timing back to whatever you want when the nitrous is engaged, that's how mine is set up in my car.
