Default SDS Engine management system ?

Has anyone heard of a standalone system that goes by the name SDS (Simple Digital Sytems) It is apparently a standalone that has been used on Toyota's and RX-7's . I have been told that it can work w/ Honda's. Any word on SDS ?

I have a few friends running the SDS system. Only one of them has it on a honda... Its an Ls/Vtec hatch running 8psi. I forget what his hp/torque numbers were but I do remember he went 12.40 on 8psi. I dont have any first hand experience with it but it seems like a decent system.

I had it and just recently sold it. Things I like about it are the ability to tune on the fly, great customer service, no more distributer, fairly simple to tune. It is a complete standalone system. No more ecu, no more stock sensors. All you use from the stock harness is the altenator plug and the plug for the dash, the rest is unessesary. Making the crank sensor is kind of a hassle compared to electromotive which has a bolt on crank sensor. I dont think to many people are familiar with it which isnt necessarily bad, just harder to fine someone to help you tune if you are new to it. For more info call Millenium Autosports in VA, there number is 757-488-4909. They have done many SDS installs and are very familiar with tunning it.

hey EGb18cT,

why did you sell it?

also, are the units pretty expensive or what?

this sounds interesting, no more ecu and stock sensors!!!!!

I use to have it on my turbo prelude. at the time i was having many problems and didnt know where the problem was coming from. This system allowed me to eliminate a couple thing including distributor, wiring, fmu, stock sensors, and mainly ecu. With my current setup a cheaper system like hondata 2b seems more feesible. I believe SDS goes for 1250+injectors and is by no means a easy install. It doesnt come with a basemap either. If you ever wanted a launch control or a revlimiter besides a fuel cut you would have to buy the msd dis-2 and send your computer to SDS to have them put some diodes in it.

I have the sds system on my turbo 1973 beetle running a 2017cc engine and 20psi. So far everything is going well with it, the crank sensor was a pain to make, but it is a really simple system to tune.

As far as tunablility and at $1250 as mentioned b4, not too pricey, how come no one else has mentioned this system before (unless I suck at using the search) ?

I've tuned a SDS Z31. Was able to quickly and easily learn to tune it. It took 19 runs to tune the car, and final numbers sat with 358hp and 420 tq with a flat 12:1 a/f ratio. This is without adding any timing increases of the base map, as there was no EGT gauge.

I liked the ease of tuning, but it was my understanding that the install was a PITA. This is probably why not many honda people use it, as they like bolt on and go types of things (AEM, Hondata). I remember Group 5/AEBS loves this system though, used to install it on everything. Might wanna give them a call to see what's involved in putting this system on a Honda.

I had a friend over here who was running the system on his turbocharged D16Y8 EK civic. He made mad power with it, but kept breaking things inside his engine. He once had the thing boosting at 1.8 bar, and the head of his engine came loose! He has since sold his car and bought an MR2 turbo He said it was reasonably easy to tune, but was a pain in the *** to install. Hmm..

SDS. I know some people who use it. I am most likely going to end up getting it.
