screwed by hondata?
i feel screwed. i sent them a p28 to be socketed on june 7th. i called them today wondering what was taking so long with my ecu. they told me that i was in their system but they didn't have a p28! i sent them my ecu + payment along with all of my information including my personal cell phone # so i can be contacted at any time. they just kept my money and sent my ecu to someone else! now i don't mind the core exchange thing, but tell me about it and most certainly try to provide the service i paid for. now i have to wait for them to get another p28, socket it, and send it to me. this really sucks because my turbokit is scheduled to be installed next week.
has anyone else had this kind of problem with them?

do you have a tracking number or anything? if not, maybe it got lost in the mail? i doubt an honest company like hondata will screw someone over for a little p28
dude they told me they recieved my ecu. and i'm not dragging anyones name through the mud. i was stoked on hodata thats why i bought it. the day i sent my ecu out i called them and got explicit instructions on how to package and send my ecu. i'm dissapointed with the way they handled my purchase.

For future reference You should right your personal info on the top of the ECU with a permanant magic marker...
See ya,

thanks for the heads up. i put a money order and my info in an envelope and taped it to the ecu. i don't think they'll beat me. it just seems like i wasn't very important to them. they got my ecu and money and were nonchalant about it. meanwhile i'm over here in jersey waitin for my ticket to the darkside.
i guess its like kickball, someone's gotta be picked last but it better not be me!

that's a valid complaint. i'm sure they're on point though.
I hope doug will take care of you. He has always been very good when it comes to customers and i doubt he will change. Maybe he will help you out on this and give you a little upgrade too? I have heard of him doing this for other people before...
so today i get a package from hondata. it contains a socketed p06 (dx ecu). wtf! i gave them a p28! i dunno about this. has this happened to anyone else? why are they screwing with me? i know they can program vtec into this ecu, but this affects the resale value of this system should i decide to sell it.

Definately call Hondata. They have a great product, and usually excellent service, but due to popularity that's on the rise recently, its tough to keep up with demand and everything all the time. They recently hired someone to work the shipping department and that might be the source of it.
excuse me sir. you don't know me. i called them this afternoon and got no answer, so i'm gonna call again tomorrow. as far bitching goes, i'm the only one in my area with hondata. i know one person who has dealt with them. i'm trying to find out if this is their standard procedure or am i the only one. so if you can't help please don't waste bandwidth posting insults.
I've been dealing with Hondata for over a year, and recently became a dealer. This is the first I've heard of anything like yours. Doug is always quick to fix situations that don't favor the customer, I'm positive it would be no different now.
dude there great service. think about it. all the systems on honda-tech alone and this is there first noticable mistake. damn there good. dont worry man. i had to wait a bit to get mine all together as i got a bad chip. but it will all come together and you will love it.
The P06 ECU is basically a P28 with the VTEC circuitry and some other parts stripped out. They can convert the P06 to a P28 by adding the appropriate hardware. That is likely what they did for you.

I dont have a comment about Hondata what so ever. I dont know the guys there at all. I just wanted to say I dont think your bitching because I know how it feels. It sucks to think that they dont have an ecu when you sent yours in. It does feel kinda bad also to get a different ecu back then what you sent in as well. With everyones comments on good success with Hondata, it does sound like if you call them, they will take care of you. I think the best thing is not to get heated at. Just let them know your feelings in a gentlman manor and im sure you will come out good.....
