Well a screen is alot better than nothing.. It keep rocks and bugs from flying into the turbo..
If you can run a filter then great but other than that just run a screen..

I have the filter on my gsr integra now with the greddy kit i was just wondering because i see so many people with ou them that may be they benfit from it in some type of performace way? I was told by this old guy that if you dont have filters on the end of the turbo that it will rapidly lower the life spand of the turbo???

I dont know about it lowering the life span but I did pick up some power by taking my filter off and running a screen..

Well I have a ractive foam style filter, and with it off it only gained 2hp. So I don't think that it's really worth the 2hp to run it w/o a filter.

I can see how he says it makes the turbo last a little longer by leaving a filter on to protect the blades but performance wise i dunno I think its pretty much the same

I guess if your driving your car everyday that its important to try to put a filter on it so no dirt and stuff gets into your engine..
My turbo car is for track only so I could care less about the dirt..

On my last integ I ran both and it seemed like the car felt better with the intake attached. That's just based on the butt dyno though. Air intake temperatures could have something to do with it since the pickup point is in a cooler spot with the intake.

I remember an old post where someone tested the screen method and it actually flowed worse and created more turbulance than a filter. Its all about surface area, filters have a lot verses a screen with only a few square inches.

same here, im going to try to have a local muffler shop that carries 3inch mendrel bends fab up a cold air intake for the turbo that locates the filter where the windshield washer resorvoir used to be. I was also thinking of trying to fab up an air duct using the opening on my mugen front lip to shoot air right into the filter of the turbo. Ill take some pics whenever im finished.

I'd defenitely use a filter if you can. As other have stated, fabed a pipe up so that the filter can get some cold air if possible, it can't hurt. I use a filter too as my car is a daily driver.

Re: (System-7)
I used a screen for a little bit until i could find a filter that fit nice. But I really didnt notice any differnce in the performance.
