Screen in front of intercooler?
Would putting screen in front of your intercooler (for stealth mode) affect performance?? Talking about same type of screen for house window screen etc..

try to get the diamond mesh at Home Depot it is cheap and if you paint it the color of the car it will be pretty sleeper and the large mesh wont affect performance

Why not use the "grillcraft" material (expanded aluminum) instead. It would hold up to road use better than window screen and it would not get clogged up as easily.
If stealth is a priority: mist the intercooler with some flat black paint then use the expanded aluminum painted black to match. It is hella difficult to determine if there is an intercooler then, plus the cooling is not affected.

Re: Screen in front of intercooler? (BROOD)
Use the screen you are supposed to use for protecting your gutters/eavestrough. My buddy used it on his body kit for his 2003 VR6 GTI and it looks great. Very tough and cheap. Pick it up at home depot. It fit over his opening. Here is a pic
Thought I would throw in the one with the **** from waterfest in it. Yeah she ain't great but was fun to party with.

I've used that gutter screen before, but I'd rather use something with more strength. A small rock will go right through that gutter screen. Just a suggestion.

Putting any type of coating over the intercooler will greatly reduce its efficiency. Don't paint an intercooler unless you want to make it relatively useless. Just do the mesh or put a piece of black panty hose over it if you want the stealth look.

Are you serious? The pantyhose is an even worse idea. I thought it would work but then I realized that they would collect all sorts of dirt and debri, not to mention what they would do if they got wet. Stick to painting or anodizing black.

Only a measureable amount if done incorrectly.
