Default Safe Ebay things?

I'm beginning to start my turbo piece together and i've been doing a lot of research on HT. I know things like the turbo and manifold, I should buy quality parts but what things can I buy from ebay for cheap? I read on some threads here that the ebay Front Mount Intercoolers can be used for low boost applications. What other things can I use off of ebay to boost safely? My plan is to hit 250-300HP on a LS swapped EJ1. TIA

honestly I would only use their ICs if I couldn't find a used one on here...I was able to pick up a JRC 6" for only 75 shipped. rather than ebay, I'd look here in the market place or the sponsor section.

I would reccomend SRE pipingthough. I bought it for my setup and the quality is amazing...not sure how the fitment is though as I have yet to install it, but looks like it should work perfectly. I've heard mixed reviews on the greddy & HKS style BOVs, but have nothing but decent reviews of the XS power RFL BOV. Almost everything else, unless it's a good brand name used part don't go to ebay for...had a friend who got one of the turbos for like 200, and it started to leak after only one week @ 8-10 psi on his talon.

Yeah I was planning on going witha Garrett Turbo, a quality manifold, greddy BOV, tial wastegate. I was wondering about things like the IC pipes/charge pipes, should I just get it custom welded instead? and also the oil catch cans? I read in another thread that a catch can is a catch can right? so would the ebay ones be efficient?

Here is what i run EBAY

-catch can. its a ******* box with 2 holes in it. Some of my friends from japan used beer bottles as catch cans

-BOV. I have the fake HKS, and fake RFL. Works fine, sounds great, both were around 50.

You can run an intercooler if uou want but id personally get a name brand one, jsut because i wouldnt want it to leak. But as far as manifolds, turbos, wastegates, run the good stuff.

I can't recall the last time anyone complained about a leaky intercooler. But then again, 99.998% of the people who use ebay components would blame the lost power & longer spool time to a shitty motor or bad turbo, never testing the piping or fmic.

As there are a ton of places making the same components, in addition to big flucuations in quality control, just be warned that everything on ebay for 1/2 the price of the 'real' item is always going to be hit or miss. Not only that, but 90% of the time you have to put more time into it. But some people's time is less valuable, like a poor college kid, me... I'd rather work on my car than work my shitty job and pay someone else.

just remember to buy with credit cards on expensive purchases also. That way, when you get scammed, cause it will happen eventually, you can just call your CC company and they give you your money back immediately, no questions.

edited: The wastegate is an extremely vital component in a turbo system, besides from bad tunning, having a poor performing or defective wastegate will lead to blown to motors and poor performance . So yeah I wouldn't take the risk using an ebay wastgate.

the xtd stage 3 clutch is pretty decent too(on a D series at least), but have heard reports of the stage 1-2 not lasting long on a turbo car though.
