Default Safe Boost on a D16Z6

Hey guys,
I was looking into building up a d16z6 for higher boost levels and making sure that the engine will be able to handle it.
Engine Mods:
Apexi BB turbo
Apexi GT FMIC
Apexi Twin Chamber BOV
Apexi VAFC (soon)
Holley Fuel pump
370cc RC injectors

The Engine was stock when the turbo was put on, has 98,000miles, and 120 140 140 140 were the numbers for the compression test. Now right now the turbo project is not finished but it does run. I am worried however of how long the engine will last overall when boosting. I have heard the stories of people boosting around 6psi and their engine blows, so i would love to avoid that . I bought the kit used, and i have the option of buying the engine that the kit ran off of before. It is a rather new d16z6 with only 15,000 miles on it, and the only mods to it are a built head gasket. He ran 16psi on that engine with stock internals, but im not that crazy. I am not sure that the engine would be in that great of shape because it had been run so hard on, but if i buy that engine, i would get a new tranny which i need kinda badly.

would it be better to swap my weaker d16z6 for another d16z6 and than build that one, or just build the d16z6 i have now and have more money to do it with.

Also, as for buiding up a d16z6 for boost, rods and pistons would be where to start, what do you think would work the best for what i need? (10-12 daily, 16 track)

i hope you understand that

if u have the money, it would be nice to buy the extra motor so that you have one in the car to still daily drive and you can build the other one in the meanwhile while its out.

Well it depends on how serious you want to get with the car and the motor. D16 performance has come a pretty long way. Should you decide to stick single-cam and you want to get pretty serious then I would try and acquire a spare motor from a local salvage yard. Here is my friends set-up that is in the process of being built. Golden Eagle sleeved 75mm block w/ CP 9:1's and Crower rods. The head was ported by Portflow and has Crower 0.5mm O/S valves, titanium retainers, valvespring & 63441T camshaft and an AEM cam gear. This thing should take almost anything you can throw at it. He is running the Rev Hard kit w/ a VAFC hack and DSM 450's. He is switching to RC 550's, Hondata s200 w/ boost and looking for a larger turbo. This set-up will embarass a LOT of B-Series out there. I told him he was crazy, but this just goes to show the level of products out there available.

I'm considering sleeving my next setup and if I do I'll get 770's. Like you said, it should be able to handle anything you can throw at it and I love that idea so I'll probably need 770's to find my goal/limit.
