Those are VERY difficult to do. No one just sells the seals, it must be sent back to a BW dealer for correct rebuild. It's not like Garrett, where you can just "get" the rebuild components.

I'd also look into WHY it failed that quickly. Check your oil return and feed setups. In the 1.5 years this has been around, you are the first for an initial failure. BTW THe S372s DO NOT have any warranty associated with it. It is a strictly race application and is voided.

i guess i dont feel so dumb for pulling it apart then since ther is no warranty anyways. right befor the exaust wheel the is a snap ring type spacer, would that be the seal in question? also i pulled the compressor wheel off and slide out the shaft and exaust wheel, wiped everything down put it all back together and put an oil restricter on. ran it for about ten minutes, pulled it apart an there was very little oil but it was there. also i have a scavenging pump so i dont think the return is the problem.

Why did you put an oil restrictor on this unit at all? It should have a -4AN line used for this as required by the sheet that should have come with the turbocharger. That is a huge shaft, and needs a good amount of oil to balance that shaft and lubricate the system. Also pulling the turbo apart before it was sent to your dealer for analysis could have "tainted the evidence". When rebuilding, the rebuilder needs the unit untouched in order to help diagnose the problem that may be present in the turbo or to help with your oiling system. It's like a CSI diganosis of sorts.

so i put it back together, lowered the location of my scavenging pump and lit it run for 15 min and took it apart and there was very little oil if any. do you think it could have been my location of the scavenging pump before which was about 8 inches higher than the drain on the turbo. i put the restricter on after it had stared smoking.would you sugest i take it off and let it run again to see if it leaks. i do have a -4 feed and on my return is -6 through the scavenging pump.

even with the 3 gpm scavenging pump on the return? i pulled the restrictor let it run another ten and still no oil coming through either seal. good to go i think? it was still smoking pretty bad but i need to clean my down pipe and exaust. theres still oil in there.

The return needs to be -10AN. That was the size it was designed for. Hopefully you didn't ruin it, attempting to be overcautious.

Any standard S400 rebuild kit will work. Its just a S400 based unit. I have seen them apart several times. Uses standard off the shelf internals.

As you said though...their is a reason why its blowing oil.
