Default s300 starter boost control settings

Hey,

I have finally got my boost solenoid activating from the ecu using the s300. My question is does anyone have some base settings that i can use to begin the testing at the strip?

I have a b18 with an S372R, twin gate setup with what i believe to be an 8psi spring in each (i havent been able to test this yet), the fuel curve has been done before i corrected the plumbing though. I also have a MAC solenoid.

So my question is, if i wanted to set the peak boost for 15psi, are there some typical settings for

Solenoid frequency
Fixed duty cycle
Activation pressure

I do wish to use boost by gear but i figured it would be wise to try and get a baseline sorted out first. If anyone has a few pointers that would be great.

My activation point is 3psi. Frequency is 31Hz and as far as duty cycle for 15psi you need to figure that out. I cant really give insight there as you have a twin gate set-up and is very different then mine. What you need to do it go to "fixed duty cycle. Enter 20...see what you get. enter it on table that 20% got you "x" amount of boost. Then try 40 and see what that give you..enter that into boost table. At somepoint a few %'s are going to make a big difference so just be careful as you get into the higher %'s . Once you set up those values in the boost table. Then you can switch it to target boost and enter that in the high/low boost map area based on gear/rpm

thanks man thats really useful. i guess i was expecting it to be like my old AVCR, which of course it isnt! So this will just be a learning process.

What effect does the solenoid frequency have? would a higher frequency allow finer control?

I had issues with the frequency....keep it at 31hz. thats what the solenoid should be ran at. It gives different resolution using different Hz. I would just leave it at 31 and if youre boost numbers are off you should be changing Duty cycle to get to the desired boost levels. The main thing is you want to get youre boost table as accurate as possible. Once youre happy with that on a fixed duty duty cycle basis then you can go and mess with the boost by gear table based on rpm/gear(target boost)

Just a heads up...but if you notice not much change in your fixed duty cyle testing, or even to much difference per 1% increase or decrease, then you will have to up the frequency to 40 and sometimes 45. This will change the "window" of range.

Yeah but Matt, your settings will be very different to mine, as pretty much everything is different. You will need to set it up yourself Im sure ricky will do it on the dyno, thats where ill be finishing mine off anyway...?

also, a final final question. When running an external w/g i should set the parameter to 100% duty = max boost right?
