s300 or ???
Ok a friend of mine has quite a bit invested in his coupe, GSR swap turbo, built engine and head. He wants buy a s300 for fuel management. Are there more cost effective options than hondata s300 with the same options?
Thanks.
Thanks.

no completely wrong,
maybe neptune has the features of s200, but not s300.

Huh. Maybe it doesn't have the RTP that S300 has yet. But that is where an ostrich or any other RTP device comes in. Last time I checked it had all the options the S300 had.

Re: (93turbo16)
So the s300 is really something to look at if you are going to change setups frequently and retune often. I can see the RTP being useful in that sense. He is not going to be changing his setup much, it should(i hope) be built right fro the start. In that case I will tell him to get a p28 with neptune.

Re: (MotorMouth)
ask any tuner who values their time which platform is better.
one that still has to use a emulator vs. one that doesnt.
i cant tell you how nice it is not having to deal w/ all the cables, chip burners romulators.
all depends on what you want. yes cost can come into play.
i havent used a chip burner in months, makes my life much easier.
we have covered this numerous times

I feel you on that one. I love not having to burn chips. It is nice not to have to mess around converting ****, then burning to a chip. But to say the actual EMS is better than Neptune is a pretty bold statement. But you are that kind of guy.
Either way all of the software listed above will get the job done. It comes down to your tuners preference really. Get in contact with the person you want to tune the car. And ask him what he wants to tune. If you don't like his price range or what not call someone else.

s300 is my EMS of choice on the majority of cars that I do.
If you want, you can contact me for prices. I am a hondata dealer.

where did i state the ems is better? i said neptune doesnt have the same features. if i ever said it was better, i mean better suited for my needs, because im impatient and spoiled.
neptune im sure is certainly capable. however, when i can tune a car much easier and compotent, im going that route.
yes it has good features. and im sure they take aim at honda's s300 for their new release.

good point.
My bad on that one. I took it the wrong way.
yes, S300 is definitley the hardware to follow just like the Kpro.

Re: (MotorMouth)
One important option often overlooked is the 2Mb onboard Datalogging memory. This is useful for drag or circuit racing where a laptop is not allowed. Up to an hour's worth of logging can be stored then downloaded to your laptop. This makes troubleshooting easy for dealers tuning S300's for customers that live some distance away. Datalogs can then be easily e-mailed making remote troubleshooting very easy.
One USB connection makes setup extremely quick and easy. Compared to setting up an emulator, setting up a serial port for datalogging and dealing with the quirks of USB-serial adapters using the S300 is a breeze. One USB connection handles simultaneous programming and datalogging. Literally, it is seconds to start programming. Plug in USB and go.
Leaves you more time for doing the fun stuff - tuning.

when is Neptune coming out with that new stuff or is it jstu still being hyped?
ANyway My vote would be for the s300, it works, it has a great dealer support network, and it is well established. I had been doing the rom emulator, chiprr burning, datalogging and so on, but jsut got tired of it and decided to try an s300. I am considering buying a second one for my other car I have enjoyed it so much and it has made tuning a lot simpler process.

I also heard it got many great things...like autodrive, selfstart, etc.
You can wait for all these great stuff if you want, but life is too short...I rather have fun with my car now.
Hondata S300, my ems of choice.

Re: (cinq)
Thank you all for your input. Does this mean it costs less to tune a car with S300 , I would think alll the tuners would be running for their romulators.

Just because you can connect to the EMS does not make you a tuner. People find that out really soon once they blow up an engine.

well the date today is 3-3-06, and people started talking about neptune rtp back in june/july of 05 when the s300 was about to come out and everyone just said wait for neptune rtp to come out. then on the hrtuning website they introduced the prototype around september. so far that's about half year of waiting for the neptune rtp to be released...
i'd say go hondata s300

Re: (flip1199)
I cant wait, I just want to know if I am jeapordizing anything by using NepTune vs. Hondata. Will I get the same tune with less features or is there a bonus with any of the two?
