Default Running Velocity stack, need filter options

I am currently running a 4" inlet Velocity stack that is 8.5" in total diameter. I am looking for a filter that might be able to fit over the stack, but I seriously doubt I will be able to find one.

Just posting here incase someone might know of a company that makes one. K&N does not and the search did not yield any results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I put mine in an airbox but it only has a 5" diameter at the big inlet part... it would be hard to fit yours in one

I have the same velocity stack 8.5'' total diameter, I just got a screen and riveted it onto the velocity stack.

Hmm the airbox idea sounds very interesting. Would you happen to have any pictures?

I don't think that's a viable option for me as I have limited space as is. I was hoping to luck out and a miracle to happen and find a round tapered 8.5" filter.

I thought about the screen, but that would really negate the reasoning behind running the velocity stack. I just don't feel right running the thing open, but it sure does feel/sound/spool badass.

Mine actually sounds exactly the same with the airbox, maybe a little quieter. I have some pics I have to upload I just took em cause I just finished the damn thing monday. I think putting a screen in a velocity stack would disrupt the airflow too much but Ive seen people that have it.

Yea that is why it's either filter or open. But your airbox idea has got me thinking. Pictures would be awesome.

I used 22 guage steel sheet metal and riveted it together, and got 2 K&N filters from the auto parts store and siliconed them in. The velocity stack is 2 3/4" at the small side and like 5" at the big end, which is inside the box you cant really see it though. It looks nice and my turbo is finally getting clean air...

sweet setup mang. airbox is a really good idea, i've read everywhere that the more surface area the better, that must be very effective!!

I like the setup. I will look into it.

My problem however is limited space. My velocity stack is 8.5" in diameter and it is about 3-4" away from my frame.

why dont you just do something like this, find the filter with the biggest base you can- I know ones for F-150s are pretty big and they have them at advance auto parts. Measure it and cut the and of the velocity stack that big, then weld on a little peice to extend it out and have a place to put a screw clamp on there like in the pic

So far the biggest base I can find is 6". If I cut the velocity stack down to that size, it would negate the affects of the velocity stack.

I think the best idea so far is the air box.

i like the idea of the airbox as well, but I dont have that much space either. But the drawing/scheme above seems a little more possible.....

Well I have seen 2 sizes for the outlet, 3" or 4". My 60-1 has a ported shroud so the turbo inlet is 4".
