running rich at idle?
hey im running at about 12.5-13.5 at idle. the rpm isnt moving around at all. its just staying at 800. its tuned with crome (or at least im learning the basics right now). so if i want to get it to 14.7:1 would i just select my fuel lo map from 12.5in/hg to 25in/hg and take out like 5% fuel (decrease selection) and see how it runs again. and then keep doing this until its about 14.7:1. then under full throttle im getting below 10 and the wideband says rich so would i keep (decreasing selection) until i get it to around 11.5:1
just to double check (decrease selection in crome is taking out fuel to make more lean right?) and increase is just the opposite?
thanks

yeah i know. but i got in an argument the other day with a friend. he said to lean it out you need to increse the selection. i told him you need decrease the selection because that will decrease the number of injector pulses. am i correct?

Yes, decreasing the fuel value decreases the amount the lenght of the inj. pulse..IE. Leaning out..

ok, so would i select the part of the map in vacuum and the rpm where it idles an just keep leaning it out like 5% at a time?

you dont have to lean much but 5 is a good starter number.after that go up in 1-2% intervals. most likely you will end up burrning like 5 maps to get it right.

i dont know how crome is set up but i would only select the portion that is at your vacume at your idle and your rpm. so it should just be about 9 blocks or so.

Re: running rich at idle? (tallyturbo)
yeah its weird though. even though the car is warm sometimes it idles at 13:1 and then other times it idles at 14:1

either way you could still lean it up about 2% and i would be closser to 14.7. do you have you stock o2 enabled or disabled? when i tuned with the o2 disables and then i turned it back on it had that same prob.

remember that the ecu will run the engine rich till it warms up all the way. its much easier with crome pro. and decrease the number to lean.

im getting just the opposite. its running like 18:1 at idle when cold. then it will now go to 14. doesnt seem to idle nice any leaner though

how much detail do you want? ask me a qustion. you dont need to know what manifold, turbo, intercooler i have because that has nothing to do with idle. its a b18b and im running crome.

I know with my hondata I can never get it to sit pretty at 14:7 I mean I can emulate and have it sitting pretty , burn the chip and the next day its rich so I just left it like that whats the harm.
