does running heater helps preventing detonation ???

nope. Running the heater does little to help the car run cooler.

actually, running the heater while idling to cool down does help cool the engine cool faster because the heat absorbed by the coolant from the engine is being dissipated into the heater core which is like a 2nd radiator. but i dont thinke it would help you when you're driving hard and hoping for the heater to help cool the car with a noticable difference. i had a problem with my car over heating on the highway last year, but when i turned on the heater full blast, my engine temps dropped back to normal engine operating temps.. its just a piece of mind.. but dont rely ont it as a sole source of cooling..

when I used to run the heat in my crx the damn car would run lean, could not figure it out, I put a fuel pump relay, in bypassed the main relay, problem went away, on my car fuel pump would get 10 volts with stock harness, with relay 13.8, car never went lean after that go figure, Jason
