Roll Cages, what are people using/liking?
Need to get a cage now and I want your input on what would be best. Does anyone have something they strongly recommend? Any new companies out there?
Any advice is appreciated.
Setup below, see avatar, full interior/ full weight street car/ projecting 550whp on 116 at 22-24 psi. Just getting a 6pt roll bar to keep it streetable.
No I don't need your advice about how streetable this setup is, just need input on cages!
Thanks again!

have a cage made for your car. I would never reccomend buying a "bolt in" cage for a car of your nature. Just for example i had a 6pt chromoly cage done in my DA for 500 bucks. But it was done by a friend of mine. I think a pre-fab cage would be atleast that much for a 6pt and your getting a mild steel unit.
just my .02 cents

I have an 8 point (but only using 6 point for now) mild steel that was pre-bent for my car. I only had to slightly trim the hoop, and the 2 side bars and thats it.
If your interested let me know. Cromoloy or mild steel is available.
I think its very streetable. I have the swingouts to go in, but I dont see a need until I get race seats that sit lower than the stock seats.

Re: Roll Cages, what are people using/liking? (Speedworks801)
for the 89 240sx i bought a precut/prebent rollcage for a 91 integra for 189 from some company a year or so ago. cut 2" off the bottom and 6 outta the back and welded to the car. i think the metal is 10 gauge but adds about 80 lbs to the car.
i love it. stiffens a very old chassis.

With two autopower cages, the fitment wasnt the greatest. Custom to me will make the best fit, as well providing you with the cage formation that you want and not something pre-made. The material, fitment and overall appearance of the cage is always a major consideration to me.

Get a cage made for you car, never just buy a "bolt in" cage. It may be cheaper to buy a "bolt in" cage, but are you willing to bet your life on it??????????
Best advice is goto a chasis builder or cage builder.
Here is our cage for the Speed car next year.

By speed do you mean top speed by any chance? Just curious.
Art Morrison has some weld in kits that are pre-bent chromoly. I may just go custom like you guys recommend. The guy down here wants $1200 for a 6pt. roll bar. Seems kind of steep. Did you pay that much?

Question. Is there anyway I can make the side bar removable instead of weld in? reason why I ask is because I still drive my car on the street and having that bar is going to be a pain to get in and out of the car.
