rod knock?
I think for under $100 they balanced and micropolished ($50 for each procedure) my crank, but it had no damage since it never spun a bearing. I just got 2 sets of ACL's from ebay for $150 shipped (mains, thrust, rods), and the last 2 sets I used on a micropolished crank fit perfectly (loose end of honda specs).
Just a side note, I would never trust motor advice from that friend again. As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The only time a bearing will 'weld' to anything is if you severly spin it, oil pressure hits almost zero, rod heats up, and it seizes instantly.

yea im just barely beginning to scratch the surface with turbo d's and even i found his advice to my motor problem, to be ridiculous. but at the time i was open to hear out any symptoms for my problem. but yea, it should be out on the road by this week!
the fix was a success! the bearings and crank did the job. the oil pick-up screen may still be questionable but the clean-up we did on it seemed to work out ok.
thnx for all of your help and suggestions guys.

well, the fix was a success, but there's a tiny, yet noticeable, clacking sound coming from the head. however when the motor is warmed up, the noise goes away. anyone might have an idea of what it may be? it's driving me nuts.
other than that, it drives great.

Most likely cause is loose valve lash. Do a valve job. Also check for loose rockers, adjustment nuts and missing retainers.
Glad you fixed your bearing issue.
