Default ring gap (yes, once again)!

hi guys,i have searched but couldn't find the answer to the question i have.
Basically i am in the process of replacing my total seal rings with je pro seal ones after a recent smoke issue.
The problem is i have gapped one of the second compression rings too big at .026"(0.66mm). i have contacted je and they said it should be fine but i thought i'd get opinions from peeps on here.what do you guys think?should i just replace it and where's the cheapest place to buy along the east coast.(to save on shipping to uk).
My setup is b16a1 t25 hybrid turbo+50shot nitrous.forged internals.je pistons and the bore size is 3.209"(81.5mm).
thanx in advance
chucky

J-E uses the same ring widths as OE. If your in a pinch you can get a ring at your honda dealer. OE rings are a pretty good quality. you might get away with it if its the 2nd ring. I wouldn't if it is top ring.

Seems like it would be okay, but I would replace it. Bump for you.

Does it really matter what we think if JE already said you're good? Honestly I think it's a little too big for the most important seal in your motor. Worse comes to worse, how much does one second ring cost?

I did the same with a wiseco second ring. I did .24 when I wanted .21. I got a new ring. You can't just buy a second ring from anyone as far as I know, you have to buy a whole piston set.

.026 is too big in my opinion. youll have to buy a new cylinder set...you cant buy just 1 ring

I was being optimistic, looks like he needs a whole new set then.

I talked with Earl about this when I had around .026" on one or more of my second rings and he said it's fine. thats what I ran (84mm bore) all last year without a problem.

Top ring is what makes the seal and is important to be at the right gap... second ring simply scraps the excess oil from the cylinder walls.

thanks for all the feed back guys i don't know what i'd do without this forum.
i decided to just get another ring and do it right this time cause i don't want to think about it when i'm flooring it for the sake of saving $25
my top ring gaps are between .017" and .020" will this be ok?
