rev limiter/high speeds + boost?
i know from reading about nitrous kits back in the day that if you bounce off the rev limiter you could blow your shiot up! when boosting, if you hit the rev limiter will it do the same thing? i know it's not good for it, i'd just like to know before i start boosting. also, hitting full boost in 5th gear, is this dangerous for the engine? i dont know anything about hirpm + boost. please inform.
thanks

5th with boost is okay, I have no probs doing that here on the Autobahn. High speed runs with 200kph for 1 hour is not a problem.
It's possible. You know when you hit the rev limiter, the ECU cuts fuel to the motor, so you have all that forced air in the cylinders, but very little fuel. That can't be a good thing.
IMO, boosting in top gear can be done, but it should be avoided. It puts alot of strain on the bearings. If youre doing highway runs or something, drop into 4th and boost there as high in your RPM range as you are comfortable, then shift into 5th. Just my opinion tho, some people will tell you they boost in 5th all the time and their motors run fine. I'm just conservative I guess.
