Opinions Requested: A Responsive turbocharger option for a stock bottom K24a2
Hi guys, I´m sorry if its been brought up before but I´m looking for a responsive turbo for a stock bottom K24.
Looking at compressor maps, the ones I´ve found doesn´t seem to suit the high flowing K motors, basically I end up below the most effective parts of the maps. Im looking at around 45-50lbs/min @ PR 2.
What I mean is, these compressors seem to be tuned to suit a less flowing engine, that requires a higher PR to reach the same whp.
Would something like a GTX3076 be my best bet, or do you have any other turbos that would wake up at reasonably low rpms?
BR Nick

A 76mm turbo is not what I call responsive. It needs quiet a bit of pedal to get spooled at that size.
It can move a ton of atmosphere towards the throttle body, so it should support large boost numbers in the high gears.

On a K24 engine a 76mm exducer wheel will actually make for a responsive setup and have a broad powerband. The 2400cc, high flowing head (TSX) and VTC really help to bring the turbo onto boost quite early.

I am getting ready to sell my STC Interceptor (60.8mm Compressor Inducer, probably closest overall to a GTX3576R). I think it would amazingly responsive on a K24 and is capable of 70lbs min. It works great on my B series which is not nearly as efficient.

A 58-60mm sounds right. I'm not familiar with everyone's different nomenclature.

if you really want the turbo to have a wide boost threshold you should go twin scroll, what you have to be careful of with your stock engine is lots of boost at a low rpm bending your rods, so having 1bar of boost at 2500rpm might not be the greatest idea

True twin scroll turbochargers only work to a certain sizes with the right tubular separation combo. But it can be done with a T2 or T3 turbine without all of that. Just having "twin scroll" isn't always the answer

Do people still bi turbo? How would using 2x 50mm turbo's to make more than 1x 75mm , work out? I would imgine that is better than a twin scroll for what they are doing.

TT is so outdated.. It's been shown on many occasions that a single turbo will outperform a twin setup. Look at some of the hreats; RX-7, Skyline, Supra, 300Z... Everyone I've known that have owned one or more of those vehicles have converted twin to single; sequential or not..

I've weighed the pros and cons. Car needs a ton of work all around from suspension to safety to the engine and more and if/when it goes FI again its going to be totally redesigned from the ground up with that in mind. N/a gets the wheels on the pavement sooner and easier

I feel ya! My turbo car has been nothing but headaches and constant maintenance for just a street car. As much as I would love to track it boosted I don't foresee my budget supporting it or getting much track time at all with it. Thinking of either a mild N/A setup or a kraftwerks kit on my current 2.0L gsr. My ITR changed my entire perspective on "fun to drive" factor vs overall hp/speed
