represent your top mount + p/s setups...
I'm just trying to get some ideas on how to mount my holset hy35/he341 whatever it is turbo. I want to build a top mount because I believe that design has the highest power potential, but i want to keep my power steering. I'm looking for a little inspiration before I start test fitting things..
thanks for any pics...

Re: represent your top mount + p/s setups... (rorik)
Depending on you setup, engine/car etc...I just moved the power steering down to where the a/c used to be. 00 civic B18a engine, I have to make a bracket for the lower power steering mount but the rest were factory mounts. This should give you an idea...

I used to a have a manifold similar to that hytech one before.. although my manifold's quality wasn't comparable to that..
What I'm looking to do is keep the p/s setup original, but I could relocate it, I guess..I've already altered almost every single thing in my engine bay, what's one more thing..ugh..
I was kinda thinking of having the holset compressor face toward the passenger side of the b18, clocked with the 90deg outlet on the bottom, going right to a big liquid intercooler. I don't like the way that makes the turbo sit so far out form the head though (since the exhaust housing isn't on center or whatever) ..if the compressor faced toward the driver's side, the mass of the turbo could be closer to the head, but that would cause me more problems..
by the way, the engine is a b18a1 with a gsr crank, eagle rods, endyn pistons, soon to be vtec with a gsr head in an 87 accord hatch. Sleeper status..

Re: (rorik)
Relocating it to where I did was simple. Simple for me anyway. Stock hoses, stock fluid resivoir, stock upper bracket (used to be lower bracket) make one bracket and get a belt.

Manifold looks great, but are you using that as a jig??? If not where do you plan on bracing it?? Looks like 16ga at best.... Just my $.02, not trying to bust you *****, but you may wanna think about building it to take some punishment.

Most high end manifolds use 16 gauge.

N/A manifolds use the 16ga. ...not usually the forced induction ones.

um, most high quality manifolds use 16g. go look at all the drag cars, etc.

yeah, sorry, after i posted it, i realized you wanted ps manis.... my bad.
as for using 16g, i will be welding in gussets on each runner and adding brackets to support it from the block. i've heard all the stories about cracking and i plan to take every precaution i can to try and support the turbo's weight.

What wall thickness does for instance, full race, neukin, love fab, etc, etc, use? I thought they were all thicker than 16ga. How thick is sch 10? Isn't that a little thinner than sch 40? I don't have much experience with this, but I used sch 40 for a manifold I built about 3 years ago..

Re: (rorik)
2” x schedule 10 pipe 2.375" .065"
2” x schedule 40 pipe 2.375" .154"
2” OD x 16 gauge tube 2.00" .065"
I used schedule 10 on the manifold I made, It was 1.5" pipe size scedule 10 which was 1.6x" something I.D.

Re: (80884)
all 1.5" schedule 10 PIPE has a wall thickness of .109" all 16g TUBING is .065" wall thickness. schedule 40 is a little over kill at .145" wall thickness.
i believe most people are using schedule 10 304ss elbows.
