Removing valve springs

Where do you get the tool to remove HONDA valvesprings? I bought a MAC one, but the DOHC design doesn't allow enough clearance for the tool to clamp the spring from both sides. Thanks

lol...need em off quickly....put a deep socket on the retainer and wack it with a hammer.. LOL ... <--- DO NOT DO THIS....

why not do that? thats how i do it...never had a problem. just gotta watch where the keepers fly to.

Yeah that's how I've done mine too! Just put some rags under the valves. Easy toget them off this way and no damages, I was told by a machine shop to do it this way also, it's easier than using the tool.

Yeah, I kmow it's easy to get them off- but getting them back on without the tool is the trick. Figured I'd just get the RIGHT tool in beginning-

actualy.. i just use steel tensil wire, and wrap them around the valves, to put them back on. Compress it with some tape and a adjustable wrench, then wrap the coils togther. slides right on, then just clip each string till it goes up.

Snap-on makes a nice DOHC valvespring compressor system that works on most any motor. Its pricey, but works pretty damn well for holding constant pressure on springs and trying to fit in retainers.
