rebuild a B16 head question????????
I was wondering if fully rebuilding my B16 head for my LSVTEC Turbo build is really worth the machine and labor work. I have Supertech OS valves, springs and retainers. I got a quote from a local machine shop and to install the parts and port and polish and I should expect to pay around $500-$600 for the work. But if I just used the stock valves with the aftermarket springs and retainers I should be able to save myself some $$$ and I should be able to sell the valves for another $200+ and then spend that money on other parts!!! I am leaning towards 450 hp on a daily driver.
For my goal is it really worth the extra cash??? What are my benifits if I used the aftermarket valves??? should I have gotten stock size instead of oversize??? Also what part of the valve is oversized??? Thanks, any input is really appreciated. Thanks again.

I would just keep your stock valves and have the supertech springs and retainers installed, oem b series heads provide enough flow for the power level you're looking at.
If anything I would suggest you get some type r cams instead of the overisized valves and look into getting a performance oriented valve job to get air moving faster around the valve and provide a solid seal.
The oem valves are made of really good materials and support just about any power level as long as everything else in your engine program is in good shape, you should have no problems at all.
Which part of the valve is oversized? The valve heads.
