camaros gotta do that in order to turbo their cars. no need to do it on a honda however. just gonna lose powerr due to heat loss and prob get really shitty spool times.

haha thats funny... never heard of anyone blacking out on a 13.1 second run..... blah I am throwing the B.S. flag on this one....

Re: (J337_UNIT)
Do you still need an I/C for this??
That is one long *** oil line and drain. Wonder what kind of excavation system this guy/gal is using to drain the oil from the turbo.

A friend of mine just got this setup on his LS1. The seems to pull pretty well, but the trubo spools very late for the engine size. I cant imagine how bad it is on the little 1.8.

Im pretty sure they mean the driver BACKED out, as is got off of the throttle.

Re: Rear mounted turbosystem? (RacerXI)
Yeah, there are already a lot of threads on this topic... squire's turbo systems that is...
I was thinking one thing... among the other negative aspects of this kind of system what is keeping someone from crawling under your bumper and stealing your turbo??
Just take out a few bolts and there you go, new turbo for you! And you don't even have to set the alarm off!
Joe, (the guy in the above quote who has been working on this kit) came into my work and ate the other day and I was going to ask him about theft but I totally spaced it
Next time I see him I'll ask him what's keeping someone from walking off with your turbo??

But anyways, a turbo system like that has to has killer lag.

Damn that's real smart, so not only do you have to buy a pump for the oil return, but you have to buy 30' of charge piping to get back to the engine

Re: Rear mounted turbosystem? (sporkcrx)
I see no advantage to this setup, other than F-Bodies who have had to do it because of lack of room in the engine bay. Stupid.

Re: Rear mounted turbosystem? (HybridKOOP)
i wonder how things would work if to run 2 turbos.. one in conventional location inside engine bay, and then this one mounted in the rear.

Re: Rear mounted turbosystem? (turboteg2nv)
There was a post on this not too long ago.
Sure it'll work, but it's just not efficient as the traditional turbo manifold/turbo combo. As the exhaust gases travel farther away from the head, it'll cool down and the velocity of the exhaust gases slow down. Have you ever felt the flow of exhaust gases at the muffler when the car is idling? More turbo lag!
Also the troubles of running charge pipes from all the way back there to the throttle body ...

Re: (2point2)
lol the time it would take to spool that sucker up given the large amount of volume it'd have to compress first. gross. why would somebody do this? only reason i can think of is to keep it sleeper at illegal street races or something.

There is no way this can pass as a sleeper. The sound of a turbo spooling is like the fat lady singing.
People just have time and money that would be the only reason that I could think of.
