Default Quiet Turbo Exhausts?

Hello HT! I am new here on this forum and i have a question regarding Exhausts

I cant find a proper Exhaust to fit my needs, what exhaust should I take a look at? I heard that the Apexi WorldSport 2 (ws2) and Greddy Evo2 are somewhat quiet exhausts. They ok for turbo? What else should I take a look at?

Greetings:D

A turbocharger will quiet down your exhaust system quite a bit from what I understand

Any baffled or tuned chambered mufflers is a no-no for turbo Hondas...

A few quiet straight-through exhausts would be a Vibrant Stealth 3" muffler, or a custom bullt 3" exhaust with multiple resonators.

You can seek alternate solutions, like a Dynomax VT 3" muffler with internal flap door:

I had the same goals, wanted a quiet exhasut.

Major things you need to quiet exhaust down:
-Recirculate dumptube into downpipe
-Get a Resonator
-Good muffler. I went with the APexi World sport 2 Turbo muffler( the one above looks nice. though i have no experience with them. I wanted a straight thru design)
-Turbo def helps quiet the exhasut down Vs. N/A applications

I'm running a resonator and a Vibrant muffler (one mentioned above), and I LOVE the sound. It's not very raspy, but it's still loud enough to know you're there lol. The turbo will definitely quiet it down though.

Just dont run an open dumptube recirculate like kbouchard said. Mine is a 2.5in downpipe, custom 3in back and 3in vibrant stealth muffler, pretty quiet until the dump opens than its loud as hell.

Doesn't recirculating the dumptube cost you some HP? Though I saw a dump comparison once where it lost like 15-20whp.

I love a quiet, boosted car, but I'll never get tired of hearing the wastegate open up through an open dump! Neva!!!

I love my Thermal R&D 3" exhaust. Very nice sound and fitment was spot on. Also, I bought from a supplier and had problems. Half of it didn't show up. I called Chuck at Thermal and he had one put together and shipped to me within a week. Huge thumbs up for their product and customer service!

I'm in the same boat I'm building mine for daily-ish street use, so I got:

Spoolin 3" downpipe with the dumptube integrated
3" Magnaflow hiflo cat
3" Kteller mandrel cat back with the biggest Magnaflow resonator and oval muffler on it...

Haven't installed it but it should be about as quite as you can make it without compromising performance seriously.

Yes you will loose some HP with recircualting dumptube. However you can make that loss minimal by recirculating it correctly. Correctly vs. incorrectly can be a HUGE power difference. If done right then you can make up for the difference by 1psi of boost. (again just shooting a # its not backed by any type of data) but def a minimal loss when done right

REcirculating will gain you less bitching from passengers(gf's) and also a much quiter set-up, with minimal loss. Those two things alone made it a no brainer for me. That and its a street car. If it wasn't a street car i wouldnt have.

I also did the Kteller 3" with the 18" resonator (they weld it on for you) Then the Apexi WS2 turbo muffler. I think its really quiet. Much quiter then my Allmotor set-up with 2.25" piping. Much better tone with turbo too, alot less rasp.

If your an a budget you can go with the OBX forza muffler. It sounds really good and its really quiet under normal driving and highway. Its about the only thing OBX I would ever put on my car, but it does the job and sounds really good for the price.

I will say.. 250 bucks for a muffler? I wouldnt pay that much..

but alot of kids do pay 3 times as much cuz its "apexi" and it has to be good right?! its 250 bucks! it must do something..

I would go for a cheap muffler under $100 "oval" type thats straight thru. Magnaflow, vibrant, obx whatever..

do you actually think Apexi people know something that the magnaflow people dont? of course not.. (well, besides charging 3x more for the same technology)

Woot many replies, Thanks errbody
So the options for a lil more quiet exhaust are;

-Recirculating Dumptube
-Resonator
..
-Custom Exhaust
-Magnaflow Exhaust

@EsotericImage,
Do you have the Magnaflow yourself? It looks pretty dayum good =P.. But about the Magnaflow, what kind of model is it? I couldnt find any Magnaflow Exhaust Vid's, well some. But they were 2 1/4 pipings etc. And whole different sounds xD

Example; (Fartcan?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCyuO...eature=related

And; (Which is what I like) =P
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZ0gTrG436A

I'd love to hear what kinda sound ur car makes, Esoteric ^^

Mine is just the normal center inlet/outlet model.. they come in different sizes as well.

I got mine for 75USD but on summitracing.com they are around 95 USD.

Vibrant used to be this cheap.. but as they have gotten bigger, they have gotten greedier and started to raise their price. The Vibrant Stealth muffler is a great muffler, but slowly the price has jumped up from 95USD to 120 USD..

Guess thats the USA mentality.. start low and when it gets popular, raise the price

I had a magnaflow 3" straight through oval muffler and 3 resonators, and it was still way too loud
