Quick transmission question...is it worth swapping?
Is it worth bothering with? I'd lose about 600 dollars and id have to change from a cable to hydro...

1st 3.31 --- 3.23
2nd 2.11 --- 2.11
3rd 1.46 --- 1.46
4th 1.11 --- 1.03

i'd say No ..
just because of the conversion
only difference is 4th, 5th, & final
going to be street or track?
from cable YS1 - to - hydro gsr w/ itr final, right?

Damn you're good
...yeah it's a ys1 gsr and the jdm type-r which is a gsr tranny with the 4.785 final drive (I could be wrong? If i am please correct me!)...
Street driven car but i wouldn't quite call it a daily driver...

It looks like a JDM ITR tranny. 1st one is the same gearing as a B16a hydro tranny except 1st is 3.23 and 5th is 0.84. A USDM GSR tranny has a 1.90 2nd and a 1.36 3rd, but 4th and 5th are the same

I wouldn't, but you do need a longer trany if your going boost. Because you'll find that you'll runout of gear quickly when you start building power with that turbo.

For the gearing I say no too... For the actual tranny I would, but that's just me as I can't stand cable trannies... Maybe when they were brand new but never have I felt a cable that is as smooth or has the little play that a hydro tranny... I'm working on converting Mike (jdmDXrex's) Rex to hydro using a stock clutch master cylinder under the dash... 2point2 showed me a few pics of his H22 Rex and it really isn't all that bad... The part that's the most work is just buying or making a passenger side upper mount which works with the hydro tranny and the cable chassis (could buy Hasport new conversion but then you have to buy the whole kit)... Just my $0.02

Not necessarily, it all depends on how much power he'll be making, slick size used, etc... If he's planning on 350-550whp then there's nothing wrong with using his stock YS1 (which already has pretty tight gearing) in combination with 24.5-25" slicks... In this power range and above we typically stick with straight GSR's... Duc's car with a little bit more power is requiring Scott (CrazyCompression) and me to do a little custom gearing...

that's what I was thinking too. I'm going to run a GSR tranny with ATS 1st gear, but everything else stock GSR. I figured I'm not going to run out of gear until I start trapping more than about 135 or so. A buddy of mine is using an LS tranny with ATS 1st and a 4.40 final drive to give him a little more topend.
Brian has plenty of gear left with his setup... Trapping at ~136mph he's only at 8500rpm in 4th on 25" tall slicks and a GSR tranny... It makes power to ~9500rpm so as you can imagine that'll get you into the 140's with slicks around the same diameter...

450 at the track and 350 daily is what I'd like and I'm running 24.5" tall slicks...
