Default quick questions about GM map sensors

maybe a stupid question, but a search turned up no results:

goes "GM" stand for general motors?? if so, what vehicle did this map sensor come on? i'm trying to find a stock number or other info. i have a friend that works for NAPA, but he can only look it up by yr/make/model of car.

thanks for any and all help
