what oil or coolant temp are you guys noticing the rattle or piston slap go away?

op- .004 should do the trick its a good compromise

Again id call supertech and tell them your whp goal. I'm in the same boat as the OP. building a long rod 4g64 with wiseco 1400hd 87mm pistons 10.1cr and Manley 156mm I beam rods, 100mm crank. The spec care that came with my pistons said to run .0035" ptw. I told the machine shop to do .004" since I want to hit over 600.

Why not just cut the measurement in the middle to .0038", instead of trying to choose between what you are worried about as being too tight at .0035" and too loose at .004-.0045".
Any reputable machine shop should be able to hone close to that number, not too tight and still enough room to add more pressure with the right tuning.
