Default Racebum's Build Thread - 300whp ITR

Been piecing together a turbo kit over the past year and just ordered the very last piece today which was the TIAL Q BOV. My engine was pulling between 22.5 and 23" on vacuum which according to Tial is the stiff 12lb spring. Seems heavier than i'm use to reading about but it is their spec. What you guys are seeing here is

1. Inline pro manifold
2. Tial WG with .6bar spring
3. Precision 5431e cea turbo
4. Precision - Deka 650cc injectors
5. Partial spoolin downpipe, i actually had to finish it
6. AEM wideband and boost gauge
7. el cheap mishimoto intercooler

I also have a p28 and boomslang ready to go. I still need to have a talk with gringotegra and get a time scheduled to get it all tuned. Not really sure what to expect out of this for whp but i'd guess i will see 7-8lbs at the manifold from a .6 bar spring. This is all going on a stock 11:1 JDM ITR engine

Very realistic goals... Should be a fun street car. Good luck with everything.

Definitely in for numbers, going to be running close to the same setup. Nice parts.

lot of that depends on the lb/min of the turbo, the one i have flows 50lb/min

i'd be happy at 285, 300, wherever

i don't really want a specific drag car so something that will hook the top of 1st or at least second on a really sticky tire is about the power level i'm going for. i want the car to be quick, not necessarily a power monster.

You will make 300 without a doubt at 10psi... for reference on my set-up i make 309whp/212tq at 10psi...with a 53/lb turbo. thats with Gsr cams too.

either way 8-10psi at 300whp with this set-up is super realistic. i wouldnt be suprised if its more

Raise that catch can up, its going to fill with oil that low will act like a syphon. get it as high as you can

bone dry at the moment, black box is still on the back of the car for baffling. i've probably driven 3k miles since i put the catch can in....still dry...then again the car is still NA. got me if that will change under pressure.

really don't have many places to put it. looked around for awhile before i found that one

That's a good sign you should have a good ring seal inside the engine which is always a good thing. It must have been looked after well by its previous owner.

Good to see a build where the person is more after a fun reliable setup instead of high numbers.

i owuld not use that sponge filter once u turbo it, theres a ton of horror stories of ppl suckin chunks into their engines with those things.

that's actually an authentic HKS from 2001. this particular filter is the one you would see in the rice mags strapped on a turbo skyline so often. it's braced so heavily behind the foam that sucking it in would be nearly impossible.

still, at some point i am going to get rid of it as replacement filters are getting harder to come by, and, it's not as high of flow as some of the more modern filters.

i've just had it awhile, and on a couple different cars.

actually the oldest performance part i own

I like it... you didn't waste any money at all.
nice combination of parts.

The ONLY thing I would encourage is nicer injectors... from what i've read and talk to tuners on they make fine tuning much more easier and also you may notice overall smoother powerband.

than the new siemens injectors:? who's had trouble with these? just curious as siemens is one of the better mid cost injectors

if you're just looking at the precision sticker, the older 650s were a ball and seat design, made by delphi if i remember right and while not horrible, didn't have the precision spray patterns of the newer siemens-deka model
