Default quick question on inline fuel pump

i have the stock intank fuel pump as well as an inline fuel pump between the fuel rail and fuel filter. my question is, will my car still start up and run normally if my inline fuel pump is not working?

i'm asking this coz i don't really hear the whining of the pump you guys are hearing and the guy who sold it to me said he can hear the slight whining when he used it. i don't think the pump is busted since the guy claims he used it only once, and you can tell by the condition of the pump and it's connectors are very new. my car runs fine and there's 12-13V when i check the pump's terminal. the pump also warms up after few minutes of idling BUT i don't really hear the whining. so will the car start up and run normally if the inline pump is not working?

you can always disconnect the fuel line to the outlet of the pump and see if it sprays out fuel.

I think your car should start up fine, but I wouldn't recomment boosting at all until you get that fixed. Good luck

Best way to find out is put a gauge after the inline pump. I found out the hard way (with a blown motor). Also, if you get on your car and you get hesitation (no fuel), that is a sure sign that the pump is out. Paul

the car will run with the inline pump not working..

a wire come off mine one time and the car still ran fine.. (maybee felt a little weird)

I would say if the pump is heating up it is prolly working, I dont think it would heat up just having gas pushed through it...

to be safe if I were you I would just unhook the outlet and put power to only the inline pump and see if it sprays.. better safe than sorry

Hmm, yes the car will start just fine even if the inline pump isn't running. You'll most likley run a bit lean at the top end or under boost w/ out the inline though. You should be able to hear it running though. My Accell inline pump is LOUD and can be heard very easily from the cabin etc.

Yeah, you'll start up fine and drive fine(as long as you don't boost) I have my inline set up with a toggle switch so I can turn it off when doing freeway driving(not boosting or at light throttle)
You should hear it- mine is pretty loud and I can tell even while driving if it's on. If your not hearing it- it's probably not working or not working properly- maybe that's why the guy sold it Check the ground...

put a guage before and after the pump.If there is higher preasure before it it is broke. I think.

thanks guys. i guess i have to check it throughly. the only thing that's telling me it's working is the warming up of the inline pump. by the way, the inline pump is a bosch inline fuel pump.

Also, make sure you have the polarity correct. Just more things you could check. Paul

Just pop off the wires and check for continuity. Should be a few ohms. If you get something like a megohm its dead likely.
