Default Quick question about turbo talk?

I know this will sound really stupid but when people talk about turbos they always say like To3/To4e or watever...I know that the numbers are the different sizes between the compression wheel and the exhaust wheel. So my questions/questions are...What does the "T" stand for(turbo?)? What do the letters stand for? And how exactly are the wheels, blades, whatever, exactly measured? Thanks for ANY info!

Ok there dumb ***, I did search and i couldn't find any of the answers i was looking for because there wasn't any info that i could find on the questions i asked, why you ask...Because back through the past people have probley asked the same questions and then there were replys from smart ones like yourself who had nothing to say except SEARCH, So from way back then till now, A lot of questions that could have been easly answered are not! And it is because of people like you!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I don't mean to "flip out" BUT, people on all these damn forums always say search search search, well, if your to lazy to answer the question or you dont know the answer than DON'T REPLY!!!

Answer me this... Is 1dumbassscreenname's reply "SEARCH", A better use of bandwith for this site, or would have just answering the question been a better use? After all, i thought this site was to ask questions and get answers.

Ok mister G2 Pilot...I did a the exact search you just posted and i got like 200+ pages. BUT, How many of them answered my exact questions? I found 0 that did out of looking through quite a few of those pages. So why don't you look through all those pages and post the links to the posts that answer my exact questions if you think you can just reply to my post trying to prove me wrong. Jack ***

laf. silly bear.

so you're telling me that nowhere on honda-tech has anyone ever discussed turbo sizing jargon, such as a/r, trim, stage, etc.......

this is the part where most people would say go back to clubsi n00b. but i'm bigger than that. welcome to honda-tech!! hope you learn a lot while you're here.

edit: just because i'm feeling nice, maybe you should read up on the precision site http://www.precisionte.com/sportcompact.php and if you have more questions feel free to ask away.

by the way, the "T" is the series of turbo. it doesn't mean turbo. the "e" in t3/t04e is the compressor housing size (it's kind of like a code, but not as neat as secret agents use). the measurements are easier to understand if you click the link above.

amazing how you can sit there and try and be a jackass insulting me (n00b vs. not a n00b--bad first impression, son) and yet here i am still willing to help. hooray for honda-tech camaraderie, even though the n00b peons like you don't understand it!

This is outstanding.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
when people tell you that the answer is in the search button and you flip out and start cursing at them, thats not cool. And its allso a pretty good way to make sure that next time someone sees your screen name, and you ask a question, most will steer away from your thread. I know that I will. Calm down and act like an adult.

T by the way is just the designator that Garret used on there turbos. Some other manufacturures use it as well.

I really hate how so many tards on this forum say "duh...SEARCH" without realizing that maybe only 2 of the 1000 or so results will have any useful info. A LOT of searches yield results that are at least 99.9% useless crap. Mods should enforce a rule that you can't reply "SEARCH" without also giving worthwhile keywords or links. Yeah, like that'll ever happen! Of course, if it makes you feel smart to say "SEARCH", then knock yourself out. A glossary would make sense, but everyone here hates the idea of even a single sticky and then it would be too easy for people to enter the coolness club.

People use turbo jargon all the time on H-T but they rarely if ever EXPLAIN what the terms mean. You can listen to Economists, or Hip-Hop, or Chemists, allllllll daaayyyyy loooonngg but you still won't understand what the new terms mean. The guy just wants some really basic info. I mean, fer christ's sake, how long does it take to type "T3 (or T03) is a model of turbo made by Garrett, like an Escort is a model of car made by Ford. And just like the Escort comes in different sizes and trim levels (no pun intended), so does the T3. 3dr, 4dr, wagon, LX, GT = 50 trim, 57 trim, 60-1, .48 A/R, .63 A/R, etc. The T4 (ot T04) is a larger model of turbo made by Garrett, just like a Taurus is a larger model of Ford. Blah, blah, blah..."

OK, G2 Pilot does get props for giving some useful info.

Um...I think he is just expressing frustration at getting some useless misinformation.
And he wasn't nearly as rude as some of the noob bashing I've seen here on H-T.

Thanks TJBIZZO, You are 100% correct on all i wanted out of my post. I just get WAY sick and tired of when everybody asks a question(noobie or not) they get the same old responce...Search.

P.S. I am not the noob you think i am, i know a **** load about hondas/acuras/hybrids/motors/parts/etc. But i am just now exploreing the world of turbos for the first time and it is a pain in the *** when know will help you out with a simple question, but instead there has to be some fight about whether or not my posts/replys and G2's replys are justified.

To End This Post...I had a question, it didn't get answered on this forum, but it did on HondaSwap(first reply), I now have my answers, I still like Honda-Tech and don't hold anything against it.
