Questions on SOHC/DOHC.
I understand SOHC might be cheaper, with less power.. But what makes SOHC less expensive.. the SOHC engine itself, the parts for the turbo, or the installation?
Because I own a JDM B16 in my car, but I don't wanna spend 6-7k on a turbo, and was wondering if I could downgrade to a SOHC, and put a turbo in for maybe 4-5k.
If I am completely, and udderly wrong - correct me.
I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to engines, and I'd like to learn.

You can buy a complete SOHC swap for the price of a LS trans. Add in forged rods/pistons, and you can run a 57 trim at 20psi for good numbers. A stock b-series can run almost the same numbers, but theres not many *stock* b-series that last 50k miles boosted, at least not at 300+ whp. There are a few, but there's also a bunch of bone-stock 250whp sohc's out there too.
To really break it down - for a track car, go b-series. You can shoot for 500 w/o too many mods. For the street, a built sohc will be more than enough for your tires.
