I my opinion an intercooler is needed. Methanol doesn't cool the intake air temp.

Are you kidding me? Methanol, or any alcohol for that matter when used as a fuel will cool the combustion chamber down superior to any gasoline that can be used. An intercooler is NOT needed, but for every last bit of horsepower intercoolers are used in racing.

Is the car your running alcohol in a street or race car?

Bringing this topic back..
Why wouldn't an intercooler be a good idea? An engine is an air pump, so cooling the air before the addition of WHATEVER fuel you're putting in makes more air per volume becuase the cooler air is denser. And therefore pulling more air through the pump.
And its more weight up front rather than somewhere else

if you could make around 5-7 hp, the weight difference should be more than cancelled out....

Just had a discussion about this with tony about 2 days ago . It seems that you can run without the intercooler on a methanhol setup but the guys who have havent had that great of results I think its worth keeping . With that in mind I need to get a pwr now...mang more money spent-pdang
