So i am building a d16y8.I am about to order main bearings and need to know if i just get a stock size bearing or if there is a difference size necessary. i plan on going turbo with a vitara piston and fjt custom length rod if that matters? thanks in advance

 

anything? like what circumstances would make me need an oversized bearing?

 

depends on what color stock bearings you have and if they are al or at least most the same color or not. this wil decide if you can run aftermarket or if stock would be a better choice and if aftermarket will tl you if you can run standar undersized or oversized. the length of the rod has nothing to do with the bearings its the size of the big end of the rod opening that ges around the crank

 

also different companies for rods have different size bearings. So I believe the company you buy the rods from can tell you what color their rods take (like eagles are the same, at least for my B series)

 

ok thanks for the info guys.I guess i will wait til i open it up and look at the bearings to see which ones i need to get. i was looking at the acl race bearings.

 

Depends on your clearenced the race bearings tend to give more bearing clearence vs their duraglides but both are great bearings

 

ok thanks for the input.So it wouldnt be safe to just order a standard size bearing? The machine shop will measure the clearances and i go from there?

 

thats the best way to do it but you can also go off the stock bearings and the new rods
