Default questions about the oil pan

i'm buying this greddy kit used from this guy, and he's willing to giving away oil pan (included so it will be just bolt in) with oil line, but my question is does all 96-00 civic have same oil pan??.. i have 2000 civic ex, was wondering if it matters.. need help asap!! thanks!!

the ex pans are aluminuim and the others are steel, not sure if the steel ones will work on an ex

I'm confused, but here's a stab at answering your question.

All 96-00 civic pans are interchangeable.

All 96-00 Ex pans are aluminum, the others are steel.


Many people opt for the steel pans because you can weld on the oil return fitting. Welding a steel fitting to the aluminum Ex pans can be difficult.

I've never personally done it, but I can't imagine them not being interchangeable because y7 and y8 blocks are identical.

I'd get the guy's pan. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with your aluminum pan.
