Default Question for you Ls guys

I am putting this in FI because it is where I primarily post and I regard you opinions higher.

Anyways, what type of valve spring compressor do you Ls guys use? Where did you get it and how much? Links would be awesome.

Also what do you use to take off and drive on valve stem seals. There has to be something better then a socket.
Thanks for the input.

i used the cheap one that you can rent from autozone. it works, but its a huge pain in the ***. i just coudlnt see spending over 100 bucks on one from snap on when i can have a machine shop cut the valves and reinstall it all for not much more

That is the one I got from that same seller....

But question him about the shipping cost.... he keeps listing $33 but it is only like $14...
He will drop it if you question him about how much it weighs

Yea... he is a decent seller...
He tries to make his money by listing crazy shipping prices but if you call him out he don't want his reputation ruined...

BTW when you put the valvetrain back on their is a trick to doing it and it will take you a few tries to get it....

Get everything into place and when you are putting the retainer clips in, dip them in petroleum jelly (vaseline).

Put them on the retainer and get the hole lined up right above the valve.

Take a paper towel and fold it a couple times over so it has a little thickness to it and place it over the retainer and clips.

Then use the valve spring compressor and push down.

The vaseline will help keep the retainer clips in the retainer, and the paper towel stops them from popping out when the vavle comes through. The valve will just go through the paper towel.

It took me an hour to get the first one... and once I got it it took me 20 minutes to do the rest.

Wow thats a really good idea. I usually just have someone else there with my and while I hold the valve down he just slips the keepers in. But now I might try this since it seems like it would be quicker to repeat mulitple times.
