Question on using torque wrench
When using a torque wrench, are you supposed to set it back to 0 before setting it to the next number?
The techs at my friend's work (Chevy dealer) said that they alwasy do this..and if you dont then the wrench is not accurate.
I sure hope this isnt true, cause if it is..my whole engnine is torqued wrong!

its true. i wouldn't say it would go bad right away, but if you don't reset the wrench it will need to be recalibrated.

Re: Question on using torque wrench (HX_Guy)
well i dont think thats necessarily true. how long did you leave the wrench torqued for? if its days you might be okay. but if its weeks or months that isnt good. but your buddy is definately right. one time i went to my buddies shop to torque my ring gear and for some reason some bolts were stretching more than others. we ended snapping off the head of a bolt and streching a few others, and it turns out that the snap on wrench was left torqued and gave us false readings. its definately no wives tale.
