Default question regarding pistons

I was doing some calculations and some measurements last night. Are most valve releifs on aftermarket pistons sized at .508 inch depth. The way we clayed the motor i had in there currently it shows that i have approx .0180 inch of room available even though the piston is slighly above the GE block which is .0018 of inch.

So i figure i have plenty of room to run the oversized ferrea valves on a Wiseco piston from larry.

even on my older JE piston the valve relief was cut .508 is this std thing that all manufacture adhere to.

Well, the literature that came with my Wiseco pistons I just received said they oversize the valve reliefs on all of their pistons to accomadate slightly oversized valve heads. Sorry no specs, but I thought I'd share.

(This JE piston/Eagle rod thing is getting VERY tiresome )

I am at a slight loss but want to help with your question, but first what measurement if .508" inch, no way that is the relief depth on any pistons I have seen, that is over one centimeter. thanks to explain, p.s. there is a piston to valve clearance that you should respect, I know you are trying to maximize the proximity of valve to piston - or max valve lift, but you can get more flow by maximizing the airflow at lower lift by getting a cam made that will maintain that.

I agree. The Eagle rod je piston was funny at first but now everyone says it. I even took it out of my sig so lets get back to tech. I dont mind the joking around everyonce and a while, but dont kill the joke to death.
