Default question - not boost related

I have a freind with a 91 teg that just blew his motor.. he wants me to fix his car... he wants a B16 swap, I am thinking B20 for about the same price... he is trying to get a loan on the car to put a turbo in at the same time.. if it doesnt go through we are going to use nitrous... which budget engine do you guys think I should use?

thanks for the advice

A b16a swap is cheap and nice, but i think it is better for all motor. With the B20 set up, you will gain a lot more towue, but you will lose a little high end. That is when the boost comes in. ALso, if you are not planning to built the block, The B20 has lower compression than the B16a. Which is Great for turbo. (chances of less detonation) One thing about Turbo though (keep this in mind) It is very high maintenance and has to be well kept up. As for NOS, It is a great feeling, but it will not last that long. Either your rings are your rods will be gone soon!! A nice setup without worries is a high compression B20 with a vtec head. (Ls/vtec, B20/vtec) but as a current owner of a ls vtec, I have experiienced a lot of oil leakage problems....... Know what you want to do before buying your swap.
