Default question about ignitiontiming while boosting?

I have a 2001 integra ls and going to be runing between 5 and 7 psi with the hack. My question is since the hack does not retard ignition timing while under boost, do I need to get a msd btm ignition to retard my timing? Some one told me that on obd ll cars you cant just turn the distributor to retard timing bacause the computer will change the timing back to stock timing, is this ture?

yeah, just get a timing gun and turn the distributor towads the front of the car to retard it. You can retard about .5 degree per pounds of boost and you'l be fine.

well, with MSD it only retard timing under boost, if you turn the distributor, your timing is retarded all the time. But at 2-4 degrees, you can hardly tell the difference in performance.

correct... 2-4 degree retard is nothing.. if you notice or researched, your timing has variance for stock... stock is at 16btdc and it can sitll be in spec if it's 18btdc or 14btdc.. they're 3 marks you can line it up.... and people with 7psi or so run around 0.25/lb of boost on the BTM.. so that's only abou 2-3 needed.. so at 14btdc, still stock.. run 1 more to be safe or even 2... at 12btdc you WILL NOT feel any difference, i have no idea why people bitch and complain that at 12, you'll feel no low end

mind you i ran a 8btdc on N/A application and it still ran fine.. it's when you're at maybe 3btdc or near 0.. you'll feel it bogging

"LIGHTBULB" ding ding.. i know why those idiots complain they bog, they don't go out and buy a timing light and learn how to use it, so they just turn the dizzy all the way to the end so it's fully retarded.. maybe even so retarded it could be -2btdc... get a timing light.. you'll need it for future stuff like timing belt installation

don't forget to jumper the wire harness by the ecu. not positive about obdII but for obd1 u usually have to jumper the harness before turning the dizzy or the ecu will automatically revert back to stock settings.
