Question about drag 3 on 98 integ ls??
My friend just put a drag 3 kit on his car..98 ls automatic. Its supposed to be 7lb kit..But it wont boost past 5lbs.. Would that be caused from running stock exhaust? And what kind of hp would he expect with 7lbs on an otherwise stock motor.. I think he plans on doing a 3 inch after the 2.5 inch down pipe.

The stock exhaust will not cause the boost to reduce down to 5psi. Chances are the wastegate springs are .45 which is around 5-6psi. If the spring is actually set for 7psi then there might be a leak somewhere. Now for the HP, 7psi is probably around 170 hp at the wheel, but with the right tuning and bigger injectors he can get up to 190 hp. Let us know what kind of setup he has in his/her LS integra... I would really like to know how he would do against a N/A gsr with mods. Auto turbo ls with 7psi-8psi have been running 14.0 and up. Hope this helps and hope to hear how your friend does against stick.

I think falc0n's problem w/ not boostin enough was traced to his stock exhaust, ask him and see if a recall correctly

Re: Question about drag 3 on 98 integ ls?? (Mase)
Its a bone stock 98 ls automatic and its just the bolt on kit for his car.. They told him its a 7lb kit and its only boosting around 4.5lbs.. I tried cranking down on the wastegate and it only boosted 6lbs.. So maybe its the spring or there is a leak.. He is goin to get 3 inch exhaust and a boost controller, probably apex AVCR.. Would this be the way to go.. Any suggestions would be great.. Thanks..
Besides that it feels awesome for 4.5lbs.. Cars fast..

If the WG spring is too weak for 7psi, then the boost controller will help him boost higher. If it is some other problem, maybe not.
The exhuast, by itself, probably will not help increase maximum boost, but it will allow for faster spool up of the turbo. I would tell him to just go with the boost controller first.

Boost controller first?? Naw, I would get a 2.5 exhaust and see if this would help increase the boost. It would sound a lot nicer than stock muffler and would get better hi end power. I would seriously find out first what kind of spring it is. Usually kits come with only upgrades of tial of .45 unless told otherwise. Therefore, resulting in the 6lbs of boost.

I turned down the screw on the deltagate and now its sitting level with the nut on the top. Is still only boosting about 5.5psi.. Should I go farther with it or not?

Re: Question about drag 3 on 98 integ ls?? (stupidfast)
do u have ur wastegate vacum line hooked up to the turbo pressure source? or a manifold pressure source? if its on the turbo id be willing to bet ur wastegate is seeing 7psi at the turbo but u r getting pressure drop through the system. by the time it reaches the manifold where the guage is, its only 5psi. if thats the case, plug the pressure source on the turbo and run the wastegate vac line to a manifold source.
if not, maybe u have a 5lb spring and the shop told u 7. exhaust leak is a possibility too.
also, stock exhaust wont restrict boost on an externally wastegate set up. thats not a problem.
