question about a code 3 (map sensor)
What are some symptoms of a faulty map sensor? What kind of problems would it cause?
The reason I ask is because my car has been acting up. I will be driving normal and all of a sudden it will die. If i try revving it, then engine sputters and wants to keep trying to die. If i try starting it back up, it will die instantly. When this would occur, i noticed my afr gauge wouldn't light up at all, giving me the clue that maybe it was my o2 sensor..So heeding the advice of a friend i took the o2 sensor out, cleaned it using a lighter then put it back in. Well that seemed to help, the car would then go 15-20 miles between spats (instead of 3-4 miles).
I've tried to pull a code when this happens, but all that happens is the cel stays on constantly (never comes on when its acting up)...
Well i decided to leave the plug jumped while i drove to see what would happen.
Now when the car acts up it isn't as severe (i can keep it going and i am able to accelerate enough to pull over or into a parking lot instead of having to coast). Also while driving I noticed the cel flashing 3......3.......3.......3. So i pulled over, removed the clip, and checked for a code. once again code 3..
So now that i have a code, does this sound like it can be tied together or just coincidence that i got that code?
Btw set-up is as follow
b16a, p-61 ecu turbo stuff
fields sfc, vortec fmu,310cc injectors,trc-1, msd 6-al, ngk plugs, and best of all 5 check valves...
Sorry it's so long, but i wanted to provide as much info as possible. thanks in advance

yeah thats what I'm thinking too. The only thing thats throwing me off is that it happens even wen I'm not boosting, but just cruising down the freeway. I did notice that my trc-1 map sensor detects positive pressure under the slightest acceleration
Yeah it's coming off, but i was hoping to make through this summer before tearing the car apart. I would take it off now and sell it but i have no other way to lean my afr out a little. I'll have to figure something out before next month, thanks for the input..
