Default question about bottom end upgrading

Hey guys I checked out the search feature as always but couldn't find anything. How much is it going to cost to upgrade my bottom end? I'm looking at getting scat rods and vitara pistons for my turbo setup this summer. How do you guys know what to order? I would like to stay stock. How can I tell if I have to get my block bored?

I have an 'average' healthy motor, even compression across and no oil consuption. I would like to just buy rods/bearings/rings/pistons and switch them out while the motor is still in the car in an afternoon. Even taking it out and doing it over the weekend wouldn't be that bad. But I haven't much of an idea how much wear a typical motor has and how to know what pistons and such.

I have helped a buddy of mine build up v8's for his racecar before and we just throw it all together with plastigage to make sure it's in spec and it always has been so that's pretty much all my experience with that.

Do I have to take my motor apart and then order my new internals? How do you guys figure stuff out like this? Do the pistons and rods come balanced? If I could get a good explanation or even pointed to a link about this that would be awesome guys. Thanks

alright guys I was over on turbod16 and found some info on notching the block and the girdle, got that straight. Went out and got a manual and I am getting more of an idea. How much do shops usually charge for all the work?
