Default question about blue printing

this the setup i am building

b18c1 block
jg sleeves
84.5 mm arais pistons
eagle rods
eagle crankshaft
arp studs

with eagle crankshaft all the jornals are the same size so there is not the problem of sizing bearings.

What should i be checking when building the motor.

i know honda crankshaft are good i just choose the eagle crank shaft because i don;t trust a used crank with 100k miles. I want a all virgin motor.

what brand bearing should i use?

my goal is 500 whp

There are lot's of things you are going to need to check for. Just some use full tips though...check your Eagle crank for straightness. We have seen them come in off the boat out of round. Also when using those ARP studs, I would not torque them to what they recommend, a lot of times that will freeze the crank. And remember, that it is not just the size on the crank, but the main journal on the block as well. Proper tools for every job gets it done right

you do know that unless there was a spun bearing, it would take quite a bit to hurt a stock crank..

at 100k miles, thats barely even broken in

From what I know, OEM cranks are twist-forged. Forged steel cranks in small I4's aren't exacly easy to mess up. There may be just a small handful of documented cases where an oem honda crank broke in half, but given the number of cranks produced and the average quality control of steel forgings, its well below any 'allowance' of failures due to freak mfg'ing clitches. If it was a Chrysler product, then yes, any aftermarket offering would be better.

i rebuild a honda crank before and the bearings fail.. i rather be safe then sorry... over 100k miles car could have been over heat or starved for oil.. i also had a honda crank warped on me..

You rebuilt a crank? I doubt the bearings failed due to the crank being OEM.

you people are idiots.. maybe i want to send extra money to have peice of mind..

my options were to get a brand new crank or buy a used oem crank which someone will lie about the mileage, they will not have the brearing codes, will say they got it out a prefectly running motor which was driving by their grandmother only to church 3 time a day where she lit a candle and prayed for her crankshaft.. the car never once over heated.. she also checked her oil everyday and change her oil every 500 miles with oil she had blessed with her local preist. yet for reason they took the crankhaft out of a perfect bottom end...

i know honda crankshaft are good i just choose the eagle crank shaft because i don;t trust a used crank with 100k miles. I want a all virgin motor.

looks like ur the idiot and ur peice of mind is a very dumb peice BC the eagle cranks brand new arent NEARLY as reliable as a 200k mile honda crank.

Like dude said before, hes had Eagle cranks COME warped, ask him how many high milage OEM honda cranks he's seen fail to compare.

yea.. clearly hes the idiot...

especially when 6-700 whp track cars are using OEM cranks... i guess they just DONT NEED piece of mind...
Id use an OEM crank with 400k on it as long as there were no spun bearings... just take it to a machine shop and they will tell you if its junk or not

dont ask for an opinion and then bitch when people tell you something that might save you some money on something that isnt needed...
it could be money you could spend elsewhere and make more power...

waste your money then hot shot...

haha, not to get into your guys pissing match above, but I must say Honda cranks are awesome! I too have no problems with them having miles on them. If you were scared about it, there are ways to check it out that would have cost less then the eagle crank.

im just saying if someone is selling a good crank y is it not in the motor? if a crank is not in the motor something happen to the motor to cause them to take it apart. get it?

ok so you improperly built a motor b4 and it failed. then you chose to blame the crank. why not blame the bearings or better yet...... THE BUILDER

as i said in my very first post i am not disputing the fact the honda cranks are good.

I paid $480 shipped for my eagle crank.

thats not much for me. it might be for some of yall

i sure there are people here with ls or b20 cranks laying around that would of sold me one. but there is no way i know the history of that crank. i am not going to build a $15k motor setup and try to save $400.
