Default question

ok, here is the deal, i have a 94 vic hb vx (the UBER light hatch(under 2100lbs stock)) and i have recently darn neard fragged the motor, got lucky though. head is still good, so are the valves, and everything else, block is ok, and the block guard is the olny thing that saved the bottom end.. mind you this is on a n/a b16a2.... here are my mods, question will follow

1. jdm b16a2
2. dc sports cat back
3. 2.25 in test pipe (i live in alabama, and they say my car doesn't need a cat, so whatever)
4. dc sports cam gears
5. dc sports 4-1 header
6. crower stage 3 racing cams
7. crower dual valve springs
8. crower titanium retainers
9. cheap-*** autozone no name intake
10. apex'i v-afc
11. block gaurd(can't remember who makes it off hte top of my head
12. r-ideal head gasket(waiting for it now, before it was a copper racing gasket, which gave and damn near took the motor form me)

ok, i'm getting ready to chunk the header in favor of a turbo. i know, i know, big n/a cams... here are my question...

1. if i advance the exhaust and retard the ignition by 2 degrees each, won't that cut back on the valve overlap, making the turbo a bit mor efficient by cutting back on lost boost?

2. isn't there a level of back pressure between the turbo and the exhaust side of the head due to the fact that the exhaust has to turn the compressor? and if so won't that in itself help keep me from losing some boost? i mean, it only stands to reason....

3. i ordered the r-ideal headgasket which is an option from the f-max turbo, its supposed to be a bit thicker, and is supposed to let you run 13 psi of boost daily-driven, call me crazy, but that should let me crank up the boost on any turbo kit up around 11-12 psi more than safely, right?

and 4. would i be best off with the drag gen 3 kit? i mean, i have seen pics of drag kits wihtout air filters, and that seems like bad idea to me, but the picks of the new kits have a filter, and it looks like a decent kit, so i don't know... plus i have never driven or worked on a turbo car before, and i live in alabama, so custom is out of hte picture, i'm just not ready for that yet ^_^

anyways, any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance,
Big Fat Wally
