Quaife or Kaaz?
Which one is better for a 1994 Acura Integra LS B18B?
I called up Kaaz and they said that part #DBH-1811 will fit, since there is no mention of it on their website.

both kaaz and the phantom grip will break in drag race cars. The phantom grip still usses the stock diff and so it breaks still and ive seen a Kaaz break too......Mike

the KAAZ has more advantage if anythign breaks its enclosed and very much rebuildable, if the geared type diff breaks, goodbye housing and entire tranny. You have to get used ot the clutch chatter on the KAAZ which is similar ot Spoon, ATS, Cusco, Mugen, etc.
All those Honda aftermarket tuners use clutchtype for a reason, why didn;t Spoon and Mugen use a geared type ?
I used the KAAZ for 4 yrs in my FROG which had 513hp at the time and ran low 11's back then... launched at 9000RPM on 25" slicks everytime and did not have to touch my tranny even after I got rid of the car.
I'm also using the KAAZ in my CHEETAH all motor car too ...

Group buy still going on Honda Quaife's. $795 plus $15 shipping. Everyone should have rec'd their Quaifes on the first shipment. Preludes still on back order.

well, clutch type diffs wear out, thats why I would prefer the quaife. Welding a stock diff is illegal for starts and it can still break. Thats great if you have had good luck with them
thats what the pole was for.

9sec, rebuild ont he clutchtype generally takes a Touring car 3 seasons in order to rebuild, so if one were re-producing the abuse of such a car then yes its "frequent" but for the regular guy ont he street, it will take at least 150K miles before rebuild. In this day and age, people go through an average of 4 rebuilt motors in they Hondas by that time.
On a drag race car, the clutch packs also absorb the driveline shock produced on the launch, however gobs of HP and torque at the launch will kill any LSD I dont care what brand ... thats why many boosted guys try the spool and find it more effective.

I've been able to have both..I started w/ a kaaz...and it sounds like the axle's are broken when you turn..but I loved the way the car felt..around corners and ESPECIALLY BRAKING...the car braked really hard w/ that diff..
I now own a quaife and I'd say it's ok, I'm not too exited about it as it doesn't help w/ braking and it doesn't give me the feeling that I can take ANY turn @ ANY speed like the Kaaz made me feel....it is quiet..but you get used the kaaz..if I could go back I'd definately do the kaaz again..

Ray is the bomb! His shop is on a little street in Newport beach and he`s surrounded by off-shore powerboat manufactrurers n tuners. He has some very cool poop is his garage <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0">. I`ve had one other Kaaz lsd and it performed incredible.
Ryan-who just dropped his b18b tranny off at Kaaz this morning.

I've witnessed a Kaaz failure personally, matter of fact, I have the video if anyone wants it. Broke on street tires, with 385whp, in a LS tranny. Ray speculated the LS version, due to it's slightly smaller housing, was weaker. He replaced it anyway
I've also had both. Hands down for handling, braking, the Kaaz is where it's at. But for a daily driven car, or one with high horsepower, I'd take the Quaife.

quaife. i've had the kaaz and i broke it on street tires. i thought it was just some freak accident, but my other friend broke his the same way. i nolonger recommend that product for drag racing.
im a total newbie but cant you the lsd from a type-r?
Well, it works now.
i've got a KAAZ lsd, and the clunking noise actually went away over time. I was told that once its fully broken in, that it goes away.
I've never owned a Quaife, but, I honestly love my KAAZ.
