Quaife easy to install?
I am about to get another transmission. I want to get quaife later on. 2 options...
1. Wait to save up for quaife and get it installed then the transmission put on.
2. Put the transmission on, run with that and later on install quaife.
Also is it easy to install in your own garage? or How much is a usual price for install?

with the tranny out it is somewhat easy to install. The only part that is complicated is the measuring and the shiming of the new differential. I had to take my new diff to a machine shop to ahve the new bearings pressed on. I didn't feel like trying it myself. Other than that, it is pretty straight forward.
If you have a b16 or ls trans. , you will not need to reshim it. If you have never done any trans. work before, it might be a little tricky for you. If you sont have the skill level to pull in and out a transmission, I would stay away from this job. Costs of install is around 250 bucks usually.
On my D series tranny it wasn't too hard. But you gonna need a clamp to get the dam ring gear off. Remeber they are reverse threaded. Pickup a HELMS manual, you don't want to go anywhere near your tranny without one.

This will be for a gsr tranny. I know how to take it off and on. I never seen the inside of a tranny though. That is where I will probably get lost
Only 1 way to try and see if you can do it
Look at it like this, if you mess up...theres always someone that you can then pay to help out.
