i had a old b&m fuel gauge lying around so i decided to put it on my turbo feed line w/ a tee. will it get to hot and melt and has anyone else done this. just trying to see if its a good or bad idea and heres a pic so u can see what i did

Im sure there are temperature sensitive components within the gauge... I would move it.

an i was going to do the same thing. Glad i looked at this thread. Im going to use a small oil line i have laying around an mout it further off away from the turbo. Thank for post this

i have a oil pressure gauge in the car too for the motor, i just wanted to see what the oil pressure for the turbo was

it might be good for a periodic check to look for under or over oiling but as others have said maybe not a permanent location.

i had a problem with a blown turbo,my oil line got somthing inside it stoped oil to the turbo and it blew....so i put a t on the turbo ran the same line that i ran to supple the oil into the car and put the gauge in there..sorry dont have a pic try to put one up though

BTW, I just had to mention...

The most common location for the sender of an aftermarket electric oil pressure gauge is almost always the feed line for the turbo. If you have this gauge already, but are still thinking about putting a gauge at the turbo...you should question your thought process.

After all, a gauge isn't going to do much good unless you can actually see it.

i dont think its a bad idea as long as somthing dosent melt inside of the gauge,knowing if ur turbo is getting oil incase somthing claugs the oil feed it would be good to know

i can see what your saying i guess. it kinda like a fuel pressure gauge. why have one if u cant see it. same difference.

^what if you got two free mechanical gauges and didnt wana run them to the cabin. and already had those gauges in the cabin. put them under the hood for looks?

Sell them, and get an in-cabin electric gauge. honestly...having an oil pressure gauge on the turbo will not save it...unless you happen to be watching the gauge right as the line gets clogged. Good luck with that

i have an auto meter gauge in the cabin also. it just a good refrance jut in case something goes wrong an u have smoke coming out the back or soemthing
