why is having a non sleeved block a dumb idea. It's all a preference to what power you want and the reliability issue.. I've seen numbers just as high as you without sleeves. on pump. and have lasted very long. its just a fun challenge to see how far a non sleeved block can go...i mean its easy to make what you made with a sleeved block..

I just dont see a point in throwing away a motor for a d$ck measuring contest on who makes more unsleeved when you can just spend 1k extra for peace of mind. 1k is cheaper then motor shavings gong through a $1,400 turbo.

when a motor blows it doesn't necessarily always throw shavings into the turbo... and as for throwing away a motor some have money to play with so its no biggie.. as for this thread where is it going.. all you have to do is search. everyone posts there setups. you just have to look.. end of thread.

Well said... I've seen too many stock sleeved builds with really NICE and BIG turbos (42R's, etc.. over $2000). The mindset of thinking "yeah, I'll see how far I can push the stock sleeves, and then I'll upgrade later" often means "I will throw everything I currently have in the trash when I blow it up"

A cracked sleeve, or a sleeve that is hairline cracked will leak coolant into the oiling system. A couple of hard runs would dilute the oil enough to really f*ck up the rod and main bearings and enough to damage the turbo from all the bearing debris in the oiling system. Coolant contamination could also starve the turbo from proper oiling. If you are lucky, the sleeves would crack right away and damage may be minimal. In many cases, the turbo was no good, all the bearings had to be replaced and redone -- basically, another full build.

All this would depend on the power goal of course, and how the car is driven.

Since I infer you are one of the gentlemen with money to play with, buy my T67 with the turbine exducer clipped off from shrapnel, or put me in touch with one of your friends who does. It spins freely and is basically new with ~700 miles on it. I'll make a good deal on it.

Wow...

Nice build and numbers hero. Not sure how anyone can knock a 500+hp motor especially on pump.

Thanks man. so far i have been more then happy with the outcome of this build. I added a larger external coil and that fixed my high rpm misfire.gonna put it on 20psi. Hope the car picks up some more power. Will find out later this week.

Ill never use meth. Cant stand the stuff. We have a couple 100 octane pumps around. i would use that before anything else.
