Default for the pros

well i have a question for Art,Vapor Trail & the rest (can't think right now)

here is what happened and what has put my boost project on hold:

DO NOT get the 6 puck clutch
i had one ACT unsprung clutch with a brand new ITR transmission

after 2 years of driving around with a on & off switch chirping 1st, 2nd,3rd & 4th gears it broke yesterday with no warning

the differential shattered & took the mainshaft & input shaft with it

i dunno how many gears it took with it

so now i have to get a new trans (probably another ITR) and this time i will run a regular spung hub ACT clutch

this is just a warning to those thinking of getting a 6 puck clutch

i was in the middle of a turbo project which will now be put on hold or the parts sold so i can put the car back on the road

i can get another ITR tranny (just found out while typing this post)
for a really good deal
will this be optimum or will it hold me back from reaching 350whp tuned?

sucks about your tranny but on a positive note i would be interested in your flywheel if its not bitched up.

i have no idea of the condition of it
i was told that it could not be machined but if you want it hit me up
i'll be taking it out when i finally get the tranny
thinking about going with a Fidanza

I definately don't recommend unsprung clutches for the street. Unfortunately, you found out why. That shock is a lot of abuse to the drive train, and under repeated stress, things break, no matter what its made of.

Have you thought about getting a B16 or GSR trans instead of the ITR, and putting the money saved into a Quaife? Thats what I would do. However, if you stick with the ITR, it's not going to hinder you. Another option might be to get a new/used casing, and fix the trans you have now.

Best of luck.

i actually sold the busted tranny and i'm getting an extremely great deal on a new ITR tranny
the guy thats buying it is going to rebuild it
do you have any clutch recommendations for about a max of 380 whp
i was thinking ACT with a Fidanza or ACT flywheel

i have had teh same ACT Extreme clutch with unsprung 6-puck for 3 years now and have had no problems, it has been boosted for 2 1/2 of those years also. They are strong, and have never given me any problems. Sorry to here about yours though.

6 puck is fine.

The problem was you got a unsprung hub .

If its sprung the engagement isn't as harsh.
