B20 Turbo sizing? High compression turbo motor? traction? Gearing?
Hi there, looking into a turbo setup for my B20 motor. The redline is 7000 RPM, which i don't plan on increasing.. What are my options? I want to build a high compression turbo motor. I'll probably get the block resleeved (GE), so that the block can take it.
Anyhow, the main reason(s) for this post is to figure out what turbo is right for my engine. I want to be in boost from 3-7k RPM, and peak power from 4500-7000, maybe 5-7.. but you guys get the picture.
I was thinking that being in boost before 3k will lead to a lot of traction problems.. agreed?
Also, with a 10:1 CR (endyn/wiseco) on a golden eagle sleeved block, how much boost can I run? I'm planning on getting a hondata, and making 2 ROM setups for it, one for the street and one for the track.
Any other hints, previously gained knowledge, etc, please post!!
Another thing, I've heard that besides the JDM final drive, other companies make FDs for honda trannies. Is it possible to make my LS gearing taller? Does anyone make a taller FD, or just shorter??
Thanks..

Do you already have the B20 motor or are you planning on buying one?
Resleevig a B20 (from what Ive read) is a costly upgrade. The cylinders do not have individual sleeves like the other B Series engines...they are cast as one piece.
The stock sleeves are said to be good to 15 psi.
I think the LS transmission is geared long enough for the application.

I actually have a b18a that needs resleeving, so it'll be a homebrew 84mm B20 hehe.
As for gearing: It may be tall enough.. just exploring my options, because you never know.
What do you think about turbo sizing HX_Guy?

Ah ok...that works out well then..the B18 sleeved to 84mm.
I dont know about turbo sizing - someone else will have to help you on that.

I would go with a T3/To4e .63 exhaust with stage 2 wheel and a 46 trim compressor. this is for about 16 psi, how much were you planning on running? If you're going to run less I'd go with the 40 trim then. that will give you max efficiency in your 5000-7000 RPM range.

Re: B20 Turbo sizing? High compression turbo motor? traction? Gearing? (TurboInteg95)
was that so hard? thanks turbointeg95
Well, like i said, i'm going to run more boost at the track, so I need to establish the maximum boost levels i can safely run (for the track), and then back off that number a little for the street I guess.
The question is, then, can I run 1 bar of boost at 10:1 compression (endyn/wiseco RW pistons) and Golden Eagle sleeves safely at the track, and then tune it down to about 10-12 psi on the street?
I want to use a Hondata stage 4 for the tuning, so as soon as I figure out how much boost I could run safely at the track, I guess I can start from there.
Any more help you guys want to give would be great. thx.

im deciding the same thing, resleeving my LS to 84mm bore. I first thought was 10:1 but im going toward 9.6:1 or 9.8:1 since it's a daily driver on pump gas. I'm actually seeing what bensons offers compared to golden eagle.

I would go with the 40 trim then if it's mostly a street machine. especially if you'll be topping out at 1 bar. as for the gears, the LS should be fine.

well i decided to go 9.6:1 pistons. I'll probably stick with my t3/t4 .50a/r (i dont know much bout turbos) but if i upgrade i'll jus make mine BB
max boost would be either 16-18psi

Hey theres someone trying to organize a Groupbuy on Golden Eagle sleeves...I think $545 for 84.5mm in a B16/B18 block. Sounds liek a good deal to me.
